Must Visit Spots

Day One

1. Start the day at the Colosseum
Ever wondered where gladiators fought lions? This is the place. Walk the ancient grounds and imagine yourself in a toga, ready to battle. Bonus points for a dramatic selfie pretending to face off in the arena.

P.S. Did you know the Colosseum's real name is the Flavian Amphitheatre? The nickname "Colosseum" likely comes from a massive bronze statue of Emperor Nero, which once stood nearby. Romans used to say "Ad Colossum eo" (I’m going to the Colossus), when meeting at the statue. Over time, this probably evolved into "Colosseo," the name still used today.

2. Palatino Hill
Head over to Palatino Hill, where you can wander through ancient ruins and enjoy sweeping views of the Roman skyline.

3. Roman Forum
Give your imagination a workout as you explore the Roman Forum, once a bustling area of temples, basilicas, and shops. Consider a combined ticket for the Colosseum, Palatino Hill, and the Forum, or go for the evening experience at the Forum of Caesar with 3D animations (tickets available online).

4. Capitoline Hill and Museums
After lunch, head up to Piazza del Campidoglio and the Capitoline Museums. Here, you’ll find the iconic statue of Marcus Aurelius. Don't miss the beautiful Santa Maria in Aracoeli Basilica, the final resting place of Bosnia’s last queen, directly “facing God.”

5. Views and the Heart of Rome
Cap off the day with stunning views from the Vittoriano, then stroll through the lively streets near the Pantheon or Piazza Navona.

Day Two

1. Vatican Museums and St. Peter's Basilica
Begin with the Vatican Museums (be sure to book skip-the-line tickets!). After marveling at the Sistine Chapel and countless masterpieces, make your way to St. Peter’s Basilica. For breathtaking views, consider climbing Michelangelo's dome overlooking St. Peter’s Square and Castel Sant’Angelo.

2. Spanish Steps and Trevi Fountain
After lunch (try the famous Bonci Pizzarium for a slice), visit Piazza di Spagna and the Spanish Steps. End with a stop at the Trevi Fountain, where tradition says a coin toss ensures a return to Rome.

3. Piazza del Quirinale and Evening in Campo de' Fiori
Watch the sunset at Piazza del Quirinale, then head to Campo de' Fiori for a lively evening. Stop by Roscioli Café for an aperitif, Open Baladin for craft beers, or Barnum Café for chilled cocktails.

Day Three

1. Galleria Borghese and Villa Borghese
Start your day with a visit to Museo and Galleria Borghese (book tickets ahead!). Afterwards, stroll through Villa Borghese to the Pincio Terrace for romantic rooftop views.

2. Classical Art and Monti District
Head to Palazzo Massimo alle Terme for classical sculptures and mosaics, then explore the Basilica di Santa Maria Maggiore and the Basilica di San Pietro in Vincoli, home to Michelangelo's statue of Moses.

3. Evening in Monti
Finish your day with a walk and an aperitif at Ai Tre Scalini in the Monti district—a cozy end to your Roman adventure.
